Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.
About the Author

I loved this book. It was a real page turner, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

ReplyDeleteHunger games is really addicting so that once you start reading it you can't stop. I think that the author is very creative seeing that it is all in the future. The book can be a bit gory at times but that is basically what the book is about.I strongly recommend hunger games and catching fire( number two). There is also a third one coming out in 2010!

The entire series is amazing. Both "The Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" are addicting to read, and they're both books that I've read numerous times. I can't wait to read the third one.

ReplyDeleteI am not a fantasy novel reader and I thought this was very weird at first, but I must agree with all of you, I could not put it down once I got started. It is a very captivating story and I am certainly going to read the other two books in the trilogy.

Well written books with interesting plots and just the right amount of gore are hard to find, yet the Hunger Games is all that and more. The action, the pain, the emotion and strategy of the storyline was amazing! This is the kind of book that I can't put down. The only part I didn't like was how the plot played with death like it was no big deal... it was kind of disturbing. But the book was great and the author must be very imaginative, I envy her. This book engraved images in my mind, which only great books can do.

I LOVED this book it is one of my absolute favourites.The book was very enjoyable and was a book I couldn't bear to put down.I see how you could think the part about the death being not a big deal in the book is kinda disturbing, but I think they are trying to make a piont in the story,that they are trying to change that fact, Anyway I thought it was a great book and I loved the second one even more, and I am awaiting the third book to come out!

I loved this story! It is a little weird by being so calm and normal to those people doing that. I didn't like the cliff hanger ending but probably that it is the idea to sell more books.

WOW!! I enjoyed this book immensly! I read it twce in a row and then some. That is the only book that I have done that with. I think that the author did an incredible job of weaving this story. there was no part in the book that i wanted to skip' so many books are really good and they are page turners as in i can't put it down, but this one was so good that I forced myself to put it down. this book was so well written that it filled my thoughts even after i put it down. I have not read anything better in this genre.

This was a pretty good book (Don't injure me for the 'pretty'). Lots of action, good premise, decent characters. I'd recommend it to those who like a fast-moving book. I wonder if the author was trying to make any comment on society with the plot or if it was all hypothetical?
