Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Eleven-year-old Anne was not the boy her adoptive parents were expecting-but the imaginative, feisty, red-haired girl soon won them over...and captured the hearts of readers forever.

  1. This book is pretty good. I like Anne's odd sense of humour, and her very interesting ideas about life and love.

  2. I love this book! I read it again and again as a kid, cringing whenever Anne made another silly mistake and cheering when she finally got a dress with puffed sleeves. I think this book has the best characterization I've ever seen! Go Anne!

  5. Anne is my hero! ever since i was little i wanted to be her. I love watching the movies, even though they are different then the books. And I really enjoyed reading the book, even more than the movies. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series as well. Defiantly a favourite.

  6. I did not really like this book. Although I thought it was entertaining how free-spirited Anne was, I found the book slightly boring because of how predictable it seemed to be. The novel was written rather well though and I hope Anne ends up with Gilbert:)

  7. I really enjoyed this book, I love Anne's character and how she learns to not let her emotions get the best of her all the time. This nook was very fun and entertaining getting to hear what trouble Anne has gotten into now :) I am excited to go and read more of the Anne Series.

  8. I've read this book before but this story never gets old. And from me, that's saying something; usually, I don't re-read books. Anne is one of the most lovable characters I've read about. I don't know if this is true, but I love to think that Lucy Maud Montgomery created Anne as an outlet for all her childish thoughts that wouldn't be accepted in society. I would recommend not reading the rest of the Anne Series because as the books progress, Anne loses her imagination and spirit and the plots become dark and mournful. I haven't told anyone this until now, but one of my Life-Goals-That-Will-Never-Happen is to sit in a room with Anne and have an one-on-one chat with her about everything we can think of. She really relates to me and I love her. Thanks Lucy for giving so many people a lovable character and loyal friend.

  11. I want read this lovely little classic again. I have always loved the story of Anne of Green Gables. I never tire of watching the movies thought they are quite a bit different from the book. I always looked up to Anne as a young child. I related well with her creative mind, her love for poetry and books... Anne of Green Gables always brings recollections of my carefree childhood...nice.
